Psalm

前言Introduction:
The following is the
first Thanksgiving proclamation given by Massachusetts governor in
1623, requiring everyone to attend Thanksgiving service at church on
Thursday, 11/29, from 9-12 AM. So, what is Thanksgiving?

Inasmuch
as the great Father has given us this year an abundant harvest of
Indian corn, wheat, peas, beans, squashes, and garden vegetables, and
has made the forests to abound with game and the sea with fish and
clams, and inasmuch as he has protected us from the ravages of the
savages, has spared us from pestilence and disease, has granted us
freedom to worship God according to the dictates of our own
conscience.

Now
I, your magistrate, do proclaim that all ye Pilgrims, with your wives
and ye little ones, do gather at ye meeting house, on ye hill,
between the hours of 9 and 12 in the day time, on Thursday, November
29th, of the year of our Lord one thousand six hundred and
twenty-three and the third year since ye Pilgrims landed on ye
Pilgrim Rock, there to listen to ye pastor and render thanksgiving to
ye Almighty God for all His blessings.

經文
Scripture:
Psalm
73

前言Introduction:
Starting Ps. 73, we
entered Book 3 of Psalms. Last time we preached on “From Fire and
Water to a Place of Abundance”
.
The author of Ps 66 praised God because He answered prayers and
extended His gracious salvation. However, some people might ask, some
evil people seems never experienced any real “fire” or “water”,
and lived a rich life. But God often times will bring His children to
the trial of fire and water. Is God unfair? The author of Ps. 73,
Asaph, had similar question. He used a special type of prayer —
question — to seek answer before God. Finally, the author got a
“surprising” conclusion.

I.
Remember
the Struggle. 73:1-3

II.
Reveal the Fact. 73:4-12

III.
Raise the Question. 73:13-17

IV.
Receive the Answer. 73:18-22

V.
Revere the Lord. 73:23-28

Conclusion
and Response:

1.
What
is the correct attitude when asking God in prayer?

3.
Meditate
on and Memorize Psalm 73:25.

經文
Scripture:
Psalm
66

前言Introduction:
Did
you have the experience of being led by God from fire and water to a
place of abundance? If you did, you would remember your prayer during
that time. Psalm 66 was called “Psalm of Resurrection” according
to church tradition. It did not mention the author. However, the
background is possibly after Assyrian King
Sennacherib’s
defeat and retreat from Jerusalem siege (2 King 18,19; Isa 36,37; 2
Chron. 32:1-23)
.
If this is true, then the author is probably Hezekiah, a king of
Judah who is faithful to the Lord.

I.
Story
of Hezekiah and Sennacherib.

II.
A World-wide Praise.

III.
A Personal Praise.

Conclusion
and Response:

1.
Read
again the story of Hezekiah and Sennacherib. In your prayer, really
acknowledge God is the only true Lord.

3.
Meditate
on and Memorize Psalm 66:12b “We went through fire and water, but
you brought us to a place of abundance.”
