Last time we learned how important it is not to sin in spoken words,
but also how difficult it is. In Proverbs there’re many teachings
on speaking. How to speak aptly? First of all, the Bible teaches that
mouth and heart are inseparable. We need to let God’s love and
truth fill and guide our heart. Next, we ought to know when and what
not to speak. Today we keep learning teachings on speaking.
Be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to wrath.
God says, “If anyone is never at fault in what he says, he is a
perfect man.” (James 3:2). It shows how important it is not to sin
in spoken words, but also how difficult it is. In Proverbs there’re
many teachings on speaking. The most important verse is probably “A
word aptly spoken is like apples of gold in settings of silver.”
(Prov. 25:11). Many people are trying to learn speaking aptly.
However, when teaching how to speak, the Bible often mentions another
thing: heart of man. Those two are inseparable.
